Losing someone to stage 4 ovarian cancer is heartbreaking, and so many in this community have experienced that same grief. You are not alone in this.

A MyOvarianCancerTeam member shared their own journey with stage 4 ovarian cancer, having gone through chemotherapy, oral medications, and trial medications — all of which eventually stopped working. Yet they held onto hope, writing: "We have to keep believing that God has a purpose for each of us even if we don't know what it is or understand." When treatments stop working, the focus often shifts from fighting the cancer to comfort and quality of life. This is known as palliative or hospice care, and it's about making the person as comfortable and peaceful as possible.

There is no right way to feel when facing this kind of loss. Emotions can include:

- Deep grief and sadness
- Anger or disbelief
- Fear
- A sense of peace or reflection

Grief after losing someone to ovarian cancer is real and profound. Leaning on others who truly understand — people who have walked this same road — can bring some comfort during an incredibly painful time.
